Time Management Goal

August 9, 2006

An extremely important goal, because it helps me move closer towards achieving all my other goals. Yet in recent weeks I’ve already succeeded in establishing my basic framework for effective time management.

Basically, at work, it involves using an electronic TM system which includes the following features:

A record of next steps to take
A prioritised list of steps to take
A daily to-do list
A master list of all ongoing matters

Where I’m at, the next challenge is to make using this system a habitual. That requires 28 days, yes? Or something like that.

Outside of work (that is, for my personal life), I’m using a TM system that relies on:

A notebook to capture all relevant thoughts quickly (about things I need to do);
A Google calendar where I mark out the things I aim to do each day;
This blog, where I record progress towards my goals, and plan my goals.

Again, the next step is to make all this habitual. 28 days takes us to around 7 September. The necessary habit could be formed by then. Let that date serve as the deadline.

Poetry Goal

August 9, 2006

Basically I intend to win GPA 2007.

I have one set of poems ready for entry. To improve chances, I aim to send in two sets. The 2nd set is what I need to put together.

Nowadays I am not very prolific. But my quality is very high. That is, I produce fewer poems, but they’re all worthy efforts.

When my 2nd set is ready, I can consider this goal achieved. Because I would have done all that I plan to do, towards the achievement of this goal. The rest is up to the judges.

I have marked out two regular slots of time on my personal calendar, for concentrating on poetry. Hope that gets me somewhere.

Kids’ Learning

August 9, 2006

I have 23 posts under this blog category (Kids) but there really isn’t very much to be very proud about, in the way I’ve tackled this goal.

I need more focus, more creativity, more thoroughness, more specificity in what I actually want them to learn. This calls for a lot more planning than I’ve done so far. The planning is something I will get around to shortly.

Investment Goal

This is also on autopilot. Weekly review; quarterly roundup. $200,000 by end 2006. Equities: China, India, Singapore, Europe, Commodities, Healthcare. Bonds: Global. Cash. $2,000 RSP into cash account. $9K to move into cash account before year end. Lion Capital Malaysia to be sold, and transferred into CPF SA.

The Discussion Blog

It’s on autopilot. Just keep doing the same. Stick with this until it hits its 2nd anniversary. Then let’s see what happens.
